Robert Norman Ross also known as Bob Ross is born on the 29th of October in 1942 at Daytona Beach and died on the 4th of July 1995 at Orlando was an American painter, art instructor, and television host.
He was the creator and host of The joy of painting, a television program that aired on PBS in the United States and also in Canada, Latin America, and Europe. He went from being a normal television host in the 1980s and 1990s to being an internet celebrity in the 21st century, with his talent and kindness leading to major popularity with fans all over the world.
During his 20 year tenure Ross developed a taste for painting after attending an art class. He found himself frequently at odds with many of his painting instructors, who were more interested in abstract painting. Ross was working as a part time bartender when he discovered a TV show called The magic of oil painting, hosted by the German painter Bill Alexander. Bill Alexander was the first person to create the wet on wet painting tactic. Then Ross followed this tactic, this tactic allowed artists to finish a painting in less then 30 minutes.
Ross ended up building a 15 million dollars business by selling his line of art supplies and how-to books and marketing painting classes taught by instructors trained in the ''Bob Ross method''.
He painted more than 1000 landscapes for his television show, one painting is worth between 1000 dollars and 10 000 dollars, they are selled on Ebay.
Some of Bob Ross quotes : we don't make mistakes we just have happy accidents; there is nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend; maybe in our world there lives a happy little tree over there; in your world you can do anything that you want you can move mountains; just beat the devil out of your brush when drying it...
